What is your ADR experience? (trainings and education)
I have been a full-time mediator since 1995. I transitioned into mediation from prior work as a litigation attorney and an undergraduate degree in psychology. My mediation practice focuses on business, employment, family and divorce. I have taught classes on mediation, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence and forgiveness at many universities and law schools.
What, if any, ADR organizations or groups do you belong to?
Association for Conflict Resolution, national and Northern Californai chapter, Mediators Beyond Borders.
What else do you want to tell the ADRhub.com community (what you are up to, what you would like to do in ADR, etc.)
I am passionate about forgiveness and helping people bring higher consciousness to conflict and conflict resolution, including greater emotional and spiritual awareness. I lead a two-day workshop on forgiveness and a one-day workshop on self-forgiveness, both of which have been incredibly transformational for people. I have produced a workbook and cd on forgiveness, and am currently writing a book on the subject.
I have a quick story to tell you. I was inspired to reachout to a former boss who did me wrong 30 years ago. The inspiration came from the CU NDR program and you class and recent workshop on the power of forgiveness. I approached him via email to tell him that I forgave him for firing me so many years ago. He interpreted my overture as a request of forgiveness from him rather than the other way around. I was a stellar performer on his team. My downfall was that I failed to conform despite my successes. A friend of mine told me not to worry since in her opinion, my former boss still does not get it. I am glad that I contacted him to achieve my own peace of mind even though he remains a despicable character.
