The end of my Years of the MOOC

I’d like to share an article that recently came out in the current issue of Negotiation Journal; an article that reflects, essentially, the main effort of the past two years of professional work.

2014 was, for me, The Year of the MOOC. Most of my time that year was dedicated to creating a Massive Open Online Course entitled Negotiation: Navigating Professional and Personal…

NegMOOC starts today!

Hi all -

My MOOC on Negotiation: Navigating Professional and Personal Interactions begins today. The course is asynchronous, and there are no set times for lectures and meetups. As a result, the kickoff time of 10 am this morning is one of the only set times in the course - so I'm loading a lot of excitement onto it!

Glad to see so many of you with me at the starting line! Want to join? Sign up here: …

How do we know if they're dogs? Bryan Farkas' “Old problem, new medium: Deception in computer-facilitated negotiation and dispute resolution”

The concept of interparty trust has often been raised with regards to ODR. This topic has been a central discussion forum in Cyberweek for the past several years, and is the topic of many articles on ODR.

The perspective taken has usually…

Pay Attention to the Man behind the Curtain! The Human Side of Online Learning

Having recently delved neck-deep into the waters of mass online learning, I wanted to repost this blog I wrote a few months ago on The Werner Institute Blog, in order to hear more voices on this. The more I learn, the more convinced I am that the field of negotiation and dispute resolution is uniquely posed to be an important…

Putting…

Good intentions and environmental tensions: Conflict management addresses The Green Question

As do all human activities, our attempts to respond to and engage with conflict have environmental impact. Any intervention – mediation, peacebuilding activities, training, workshops, and so forth – can be performed in different ways, some of which are inherently more environmentally adverse than others.

In a new article, entitled …
