When in January 2012 we launched our online mediation project Virtual Mediation Lab for helping mediators around the world to practice their skills by participating in online mediation simulations, Skype Premium seemed a good choice.
Why? Because, besides allowing to have a group video conference with up to 10 people (i.e. mediators), the word “Skype” sounded familiar to them. Most mediators had heard about it, or had that software already installed on their PC or Mac.
More than 100 simulations later, run with mediators from 30 countries, we no longer use Skype Premium for our online mediation simulations or training. Instead, we now use a video conferencing software called Zoom.us – for 4 reasons.
