ACLU of Northern California - Organizing & Community Engagement Assistant
Job Description:
• Assist Organizing & Community Engagement Director, Membership Coordinator, Senior Organizer, and Organizer
• Provide administrative support for the department, including meetings, events, conferences, campaigns, and other programs
• Provide technical support for chapters and clubs, including updating content for chapter web pages, answering policy and logistical questions, and fulfilling requests for materials and other resources
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise department interns
• Respond to requests from the public for ACLU speakers and other resources
• Support online organizing, including maintaining email list, promoting community engagement opportunities online, and updating content of department webpages
• Organize department data through Affiliate Program Database and paper filing system
• Participate in some organizing work, including community outreach and tabling
• Other duties including limited reception coverage and special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
• Highly skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, and Publisher, preferred experience with Convio, Crown Peak, and Donor Direct
• Excellent writing skills
• Familiarity with civil rights and civil liberties issues and ability to understand nuance and complexity in a fast-moving environment
• Competence navigating the Internet and posting content online
• Good interpersonal skills
• Organized, efficient, and thorough
• At least two years of relevant experience
• A deep and demonstrated commitment to civil rights and civil liberties
