Position

Trust is the foundation of an investment management company, an attribute that takes years to establish and just days to destroy.  The Office of the Ombudsman is an important element of sustaining this trust.

An Ombuds provides neutral, confidential, informal and independent assistance to all employees of AllianceBernstein in surfacing and resolving work-related issues in order to help the firm:

•Safeguard reputation and financial, human and other company assets
•Comply with U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, Sarbanes-Oxley, SEC Order and other laws and regulations
•Maintain an ethical and fiduciary culture
•Identify early warnings and changes that prevent malfeasance and workplace issues from recurring and issues from becoming significant

The types of “work-related issues” that employees may bring to the Ombuds Office include potential financial malfeasance, security matters, inappropriate business practices, compliance issues, policies and procedures, unethical behavior, violations of law, health and safety problems, and employee relations.

This is a part-time position, 4 days a week 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Flexibility is imporant.

Job Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in Law.  Prior Ombudsman experience is helpful but not required.  The ability to implement and manage a broad based program that requires an understanding of diverse cultures and backgrounds is required.   Financial services experience is desirable although candidates with senior level experience in a related field will also be considered.   Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills are also required.

The Ombudsman will have a proven track record of experience with conflict mediation and resolution.  Integrity, maintaining confidentiality and being neutral is critical to the success of this position.

Job Description

The Ombudsman will report to the General Counsel with reporting to the CEO and Mutual Fund Boards.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

•Assists organization and employees to identify, escalate and resolve work-related issues early
•Ensures the Office’s practices adhere to Ombudsman professional standards of practice and Code of Ethics
•Reports issue trends and impacts to key management and the boards
•Recommends changes that will eliminate systemic issues and prevent issue recurrence
•Plans and executes communications to all employees to promote awareness of the Office and its role
•Manages the Ombudsman program for AllianceBernstein
•Takes an active role in the Ombudsman profession
