Call for papers for the 7th International Congress on Conflictology and Peace

Call for papers for the 7th International Congress on Conflictology and Peace now open

Experts and researchers working on conflict resolution and peace have until 15 July to submit papers for the 7th International Congress on Conflictology and Peace. The event, organized by the UOC’s Campus for Peace, will be held on 2 and 3 October 2014 at the EspaiCaixa Palau Macaya in Barcelona.

Papers presented at this year’s event must address issues related to peaceful resolution of conflicts of all kinds, education for democracy and peace, human rights, or crisis management. Abstracts must comply with the guidelines specified in the corresponding section of the conference website.

This year, participants in the International Congress on Conflictology and Peace will engage in an exchange of perspectives and experiences with leading specialists in the resolution of armed conflicts. Sally Fegan-Wyles, the acting head and executive director of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), will explain how peace operations carried out by UN soldiers work. Discussion will focus on the power of sport to resolve and create conflict, analysis of the cost of conflict to businesses, and the latest advances in research.

The programme also includes workshops on common resources for conflict resolution, which will take place on 2 October in the afternoon. These 45-minute sessions will focus on learning to manage conflict through games, music, and communication via the internet. There will also be practical activities in English, which will explore environmental conflicts and offer an insight into the peace process in Northern Ireland.
