The Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR) is a coalition of nearly 300 faith-based institutional investors who seek a global community built on justice and
sustainability through transformation of the corporate world. Through
the lens of faith, ICCR builds a more just and sustainable world by
integrating social values into corporate and investor actions. Founded
in 1971, ICCR’s members represent over $100 billion in invested capital.



In keeping with its mission, ICCR seeks a Deputy Director as the
institution plans for its fifth decade as the center of the Socially
Responsible Investment movement. The organization is midway through a
five-year Strategic Plan, a plan representing significant adaptive
change and establishing a framework for meaningful institutional
development and growth. The current operating budget is $1.5 million
and the institution benefits from a small endowment.



The staff includes ten unionized program, development and administration
staff members as well as two management-level positions, the Executive
Director and Director of Finance & Administration.



BASIC FUNCTION



Reporting to the Executive Director, the Deputy Director is responsible
for managing the day-to-day operations of the organization. In effect,
the position resembles the Chief of Staff role familiar in public
settings, working closely with the management team and staff. The Deputy
Director is primarily responsible for management of the office, with
lead supervisory responsibility for staff members. This includes
supporting the Executive Director in the planning and implementation of
programmatic and strategic initiatives for the organization, as well as
ensuring member satisfaction, sound programmatic implementation and
robust evaluation processes.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



The Deputy Director will have ongoing responsibility for:



• Acting as management lead for day-to-day operations of the organization

• Serving as executive back up in the Executive Director (ED)’s absence

• Hiring, training, coaching, supervising, and evaluating staff members in conjunction with ED.

• Working closely with staff to retain and grow membership base by ensuring high value members services.

• Supporting ED efforts to implement a platform for obtaining and evaluating new funding sources.

• Contributing to budget preparation and management

• Working with ED to provide leadership to expand faith-based membership

• Creating framework to build membership capacity through training and tool creation



FIRST YEAR PRIORITIES



During the first year, the Deputy Director will be expected to work with the management team to:



• Understand organization-wide administrative processes needed to serve as administrative lead within three months of hiring

• Work with staff to incorporate goals into performance framework

• Supervise implementation of newly adopted program model

• Develop new approaches to member input, including evaluation of organizational services

• Work with Director of Finance and Administration to review policies and practices, identifying gaps and recommending changes

• Review existing revenue sources to develop approaches to grow and improve mix

• Work with membership to develop member engagement and tracking systems









CANDIDATE PROFILE



The Deputy Director will be an individual with a strong commitment to
working in a faith- or values-driven environment. It is essential that
this individual have a strong management background, with a desire to
serve as part of a very small, flexible team. Demonstrated project
management and supervisory skill is necessary and experience working
with a unionized staff is a plus. Although not essential, a background
in social advocacy or socially responsible investing is desirable.
Senior level administrative skills are important and a demonstrated
ability to attend to the details of a complex membership organization is
essential.
