Training Overview:

This three-day advanced training will enable mediators to practice in the complex field of divorce mediation. By the end of the training, participants will be grounded with the legal information, mediation interventions, financial tools, and insight into divorce dynamics required to act competently and confidently  in the challenging practice of divorce mediation. The training will cover parenting plans, child support, asset division, spousal support, taxes, insurance, and uncontested divorce proceedings.

 

The course will also act as a mediation "master class" to polish pre-existing mediation skills, providing an expanded repertoire of interventions and techniques.  The course blends lecture, experiential learning, and written information on New York matrimonial law.

About the Trainer:

Bob Collins, Esq., has practiced divorce mediation for the past thirty years, and has been training mediators since 1995.  He currently serves as Director of the Divorce Mediation Clinic at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and teaches at the Ackerman Institute for the Family. He is considered one of most experienced family mediators in New York City, and is cited by Cardozo Law School as being among “the pioneers of divorce mediation in New York.”

 

CLE Credit:

New York State attorneys can receive 17 professional practice credit hours and 5.5 skills hours.

This is an advanced training and participants must have completed prior mediation training.
