Helping Deaf and Hearing-Impaired People Communicate and Resolve Disputes – with Skype

We already know two things about Skype.

1 – It can help Deaf and hearing-impaired people communicate. Watch this 2-min video about VRS, a Skype-based service offered by ACE (Australian Communication Exchange)

2 – And Skype can also help people resolve disputes with the assistance of an online neutral mediator, as we discovered during our pilot project Virtual Mediation Lab

So the next question is...

Could Skype and systems like VRS be used “together”, to help Deaf and hearing-impaired people communicate and resolve disputes (e.g. with a family member, neighbor, landlord, vendor or public agency) with the assistance of a online neutral mediator?

What do you think? Any comments, suggestions?
