Hobby Lobby is bringing a new style of conflict resolution to the workplace.

The craft retailer has partnered with Peacemakers Ministries to create the biblically based "Resolving Everyday Conflict" program for businesses.

Peter M. Dobelbower, an attorney who serves as general counsel for Hobby Lobby, said the program is an idea whose time has come. "In today's society, it is revolutionary because people in my profession
generally think the first thing you need to do is go to the
courthouse," he said.

Schlachter, an attorney and Vice President of Peacemakers Ministries, said the Peacemakers business model encourages managers to address conflict instead of avoiding it. He said conflict, if not
addressed, often results in escalated conflict. He said the benefits of having a good conflict resolution program are varied. A
good program brings about a more peaceful work environment with less
office drama, he said. Also, it can affect a company's bottom line with
less employee turnover, fewer sick days and less litigation. Schlachter said the program places emphasis on relationships and seeks to enhance and nurture them.
