Term Assistant Professor, Conflict Analysis and Resolution

The George Mason University School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (S-CAR) invites applications for a Term Assistant Professor beginning in August 2016. The position is nontenure-track with an initial term of one year, with the possibility of renewal and promotion. 

Qualifications: 
We seek applicants with a commitment to innovative undergraduate teaching and a substantive focus in contemporary conflict resolution who will contribute to the continued development of our growing undergraduate program. We invite applicants who have completed their terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D.) by August 2016, with a strong preference for candidates with a degree in a field relevant to conflict analysis and resolution or peace and conflict studies. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong teaching record, preferably through experience in experiential learning, online learning, field-based courses, and/or the development of innovative classroom pedagogy. An ability to teach courses on facilitation, negotiation, and/or multiparty engagement would be welcome. We are open to candidates with diverse scholarly approaches to intergroup relations, community conflict, and/or organizational development. We welcome candidates who engage directly with contemporary conflicts through intervention, education, consultation, and other forms of practice. 

Responsibilities: 
Responsibilities for this position include teaching three courses per semester (one of which may be in the graduate program), developing curricula to meet the needs of a diverse student body, and standard university service. The incumbent will have an opportunity to fully participate in the intellectual life of the school and enjoy potential for promotion and advancement based on demonstrated excellence in teaching, service and scholarship.
