The position involves responsibilities in two different program areas:  the Reserve Bank Services Section and the Ombudsman function.
The manager of the Reserve Bank Services Section is responsible for overseeing the Federal Reserve Directors Program and other operations.  The primary mission of the Directors Program is to ensure that the roles and responsibilities of Reserve Bank directors are conducted in a manner that is consistent with the System’s regulatory and supervisory activities, Board policy, legal requirements, and sound corporate governance practices.  The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, communicating, and administering policies and procedures, which will require the candidate to become a subject matter expert regarding relevant laws and regulations.  The successful candidate must be able to resolve novel and complex issues with regard to applicable law, policy, and existing precedent.  The successful candidate will also be responsible for executing several System-wide conferences each year, which will involve providing overall direction for setting the agenda, identifying substantive discussion topics, and arranging for discussion leaders and guest speakers.  Please review additional information about the Directors Program on the Board of Governors public website at http://www.federalreserve.gov/abouthefed/directors/about.htm.

Due to the nature of job responsibilities, which are highly visible throughout the Federal Reserve System and to members of the public, this position requires meticulous attention to detail.  In addition, candidates must possess strong analytical ability, sound judgment, and superior written and oral communication skills, as typically acquired by completion of a degree and practical experience in a field such as law.  Strong preference will be given to an attorney with experience in corporate governance. 

 

 

Pursuant to a federal statute and Board policy, the Deputy Ombudsman assists in resolving questions and complaints from supervised institutions and members of the public regarding the Federal Reserve System’s supervisory and regulatory activities.  The successful candidate must be able to apply sound Ombudsman practices to ensure that complaints are addressed in a fair and timely manner.  The successful candidate will have a strong grasp of ethical principles, including the proven ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate impartiality.  Please review additional information regarding the Ombudsman function on the Board of Governors public website at http://www.federalreserve.gov/aboutthefed/ombudsman.htm.   

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
