MARVIN E. JOHNSON FOR OUTSTANDING ADR WORK

Washington, DC, March 25, 2010 – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services in the United States today announced that JAMS neutral Marvin E. Johnson, Esq. is the 2010
recipient of the Chief Judge Robert M. Bell Award for Outstanding
Contribution to ADR in the State of Maryland.  Mr. Johnson received the
award at the Maryland State Bar ADR Section’s Annual Spring Dinner in
Annapolis on March 18.  The award is named after The Honorable Robert
M. Bell, Chief Judge of Maryland Court of Appeals, a distinguished
jurist and leader who has shown a long-standing commitment to ADR
throughout his career.  

“Marvin Johnson has made extraordinary contributions to the field of ADR both locally and at the national level,” said Chris Poole, JAMS President and CEO.  “Mr. Johnson continues to be a trail blazer working
tirelessly to ensure diversity in ADR.  In addition, he has helped a
broad array of constituencies, including individuals from a variety of
backgrounds and organizations from the federal government to local
schools, realize the benefits of conflict prevention and dispute
resolution.  Mr. Johnson’s friends and colleagues at JAMS congratulate
him on this well deserved honor.”

innovative ways,” said Mr. Johnson.  “I have always believed that ADR

dedication of ADR groups such as the Center for Alternative Dispute
Resolution, JAMS and the JAMS Foundation that a lot of this good work
is possible.”  

Mr. Johnson is a nationally recognized mediator, arbitrator, and trainer with over 27 years of dispute resolution experience. He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Alternative Dispute
Resolution, an internationally recognized ADR entity, which provides
dispute resolution education and training to culturally diverse
audiences.  In addition, he is based in the JAMS Washington, DC
Resolution Center where he resolves disputes in a variety of practice
areas including, banking, civil rights, education/schools, employment,
governmental/public agency, healthcare, insurance, real property and
