Mediation and Negotiation Competition based on the VIS Case in Vienna

The IBA-VIAC International Mediation and Negotiation Competition Vienna

We would like to share with you the new IBA-VIAC International Mediation and Negotiation Competition Vienna, co-founded by the International Bar Association and the Vienna International Arbitral Centre.

The IBA-VIAC International Mediation and Negotiation Competition is a premiering event in the field of Consensual Dispute Resolution, especially focusing on the fields of mediation and negotiation. The Competition will bring together students from around the world who specialize in mediation or negotiation and will enable them to prove their skill and strategy to achieve the best deals in simulated legal mediations based on an adapted version of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot case. The four day competition event will include over 40 competition sessions and will be accompanied by a variety of educational and social events. By creating an international, annual student competition, the IBA-VIAC Mediation and Negotiation competition will facilitate a long-term platform for students and practitioners to grow, learn and share.

The first competition in 2015 will take place in Vienna from 1-4 July. University teams from around the world can currently apply here to be amongst the selected teams to enter the 2015 competition. Experts can sign up here to become volunteer expert assessors for the competiton.
