Ranse Howell

 

Ranse is Head of CEDR’s Negotiation and Leadership Academy and has been instrumental in the design and delivery of the CEDR Certificate in Advanced Negotiation and many of the Conflict Management courses that are offered to individuals and organisations worldwide.   

As an active member of the CEDR’s Faculty and consultancy team, Ranse has assisted  public, private and international organisations develop a broad range of dispute resolution, mediation and negotiation skills for clients such as EBRD, IMF, IFC / World Bank, GSK, Roche, Siemens and Lloyds Syndicate and in jurisdictions throughout Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East.

Ranse has had the opportunity to present ‘Master Class’ and conference presentations both nationally and internationally and has written extensively on ADR.  Recent publications include:  “Debriefing the debrief”, Rethinking Negotiation Series, DRI PressVol. 4, 2013; “Managing Conflict Effectively in Asset Management”, Rail Technology Magazine, 2011; Emotional Intelligence and Projects, N. Clarke and R. Howell, Project Management Institute Press, 2010; “Two to Tango”, Venturing Beyond the Classroom, 2010; “Railway Strategy Comes at a Price”, Railway Strategies, September 2009;  “Prepared for Conflict”, The Growing Business Handbook, Kogan Press 2009; “We Came, We Trained”, Rethinking Negotiation Teaching, DRI Press, 2009.  He has also lectured on ADR and negotiation to international delegations and higher education institutions including:  Pepperdine University (London); City University of New York; Canterbury Christ Church; London South Bank University; University of Southampton; University of Birmingham; Cardiff University and BPP (London).

After training as a mediator in New York and California, and working as a counsellor and executive coach, Ranse joined CEDR in 2006 and gained his CEDR accreditation.  He has mediated numerous commercial disputes in a variety of sectors in both the UK and USA. 

Ranse received his Juris Doctor (JD) from the City University of New York, NY and is continuing his doctoral studies in business administration (DBA) at CalSouthern, CA.  He received his Master of Law (LLM) from the Straus Institute at Pepperdine University, CA.  Ranse also holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) and a Bachelor’s degree (BFA) from Temple University, PA.
