Posting Text:SCAD Atlanta seeks an ombudsman. The incumbent will serve as a neutral, independent and confidential resource for the entire SCAD community, including students, faculty and staff at the Atlanta location. The ombudsman will function as a sounding board for university-related issues and conflicts and will work to see that they are resolved fairly. The ombudsman can also help to promote positive change with appropriate permission by providing feedback on reoccurring problems to the president, vice president for SCAD Atlanta and/or other appropriate university administrators.

In addition, this individual will have significant supervision and management responsibility for the Atlanta location's graduate mentor program. This academic success program is a peer led resource, facilitated by accomplished graduate students from all disciplines of the university.

A master's degree from an accredited university is required with a preference for candidates with backgrounds in A.D.R., alternative dispute resolution. Previous university experience with familiarity of issues in higher education is preferred but not required. A high level of diplomacy, ability to maintain confidentiality, coaching skills and conflict resolution skills are needed. The individual serving as the ombudsman must be proactive, recognize trends in information collection, and recommend appropriate actions to appropriate parties as permissible.
