President of Aurora Shoe Co. gives business advice to Afghan entrepreneur

Aurora, NY -- At the Aurora Shoe Co., two shoemakers from worlds thousands of miles apart in so many ways recently met for the first time.


There, Shahla Akbari, a 19-year-old budding entrepreneur from Afghanistan, talked shop with David Binns, president of the shoe company in Cayuga County.

The article highlights efforts by,”Bpeace" (Business Council for Peace), a nonprofit, international volunteer network of business professionals who help entrepreneurs in countries emerging from war, such as Rwanda and Afghanistan.

Bpeace offers a mix of consulting, training, mentoring, out-of-country apprenticeships and business site visits, employee technical training, equipment, technology, branding and marketing and networking opportunities.

Simply, Bpeace Executive Director, Toni Maloney, believes "creating jobs builds peace."
