The project builds the capacity of the interdisciplinary field of conflict analysis and resolution (CAR) to play a key role in improving undergraduates' ability to apply theory to practice in CAR courses, in general education, and beyond the classroom. The project consists of three initiatives in curricular innovation: designing experiential learning activities suitable for CAR and general education; creating models for intensive service learning activities in domestic and international contexts; and promoting best practices in designing CAR curricula so as to enhance students' ability to link theory and practice, including models for strengthening partnerships between two- and four-year institutions.
The postdoctoral fellow will work with the project team to develop pedagogical materials, test the materials in classroom settings, and develop evaluation and assessment instruments. The fellow will also work with the project team on the dissemination of pedagogical materials at national conferences and through publications. The fellow will have an opportunity to fully participate in the intellectual life of the institute.
We invite applicants who have completed their Ph.D. or Ed.D. degrees within the last three years or who will have defended a dissertation by August 1, 2011. The successful candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following: curriculum assessment and evaluation; experiential and/or service learning; undergraduate pedagogy; and/or conflict and peace studies.
