Mediation is growing in use and gaining a positive reputation throughout the U.S.  In
Nebraska, mediation is used in many divorce and paternity cases and has gained support among professional disciplines. Historically, mediation is viewed by some professionals as inappropriate when there is a history of intimate partner
abuse. Under the Nebraska Parenting Act, most divorcing and separating
parents with a history of abuse who do not agree upon a plan for parenting are required to utilize an alternative dispute resolution process known as SADR.  This process differs from standard mediation.  The Sarpy Mediation and Family Services Center in partnership with the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council and Project Harmony invite you to attend a seminar on this topic to dispel misconceptions, voice concerns and promote constructive discussion.
