Child Permanency Mediator

 

The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, in conjunction with the New York City Family Court, is seeking an
experienced Child Permanency Mediator. 


 

This position will mediate child protective proceedings referred from New York City Family Court.  Responsibilities also include case development
and outreach activities.


 

The applicant must have successfully completed a New York State Office of Court Administration (OCA)-sponsored or OCA-recognized initial mediation
training program consisting of a minimum of forty hours of instruction,
completed an apprenticeship as a family mediator, and have mediated a
minimum of twelve cases involving family issues.  The mediator should
have substantial knowledge of the child welfare and family court systems
and will be expected to complete at least 15 hours of child permanency
mediation training.


 

A certified social worker with experience in family therapy or an attorney with mediation experience is preferred. Bi-lingual
(English/Spanish) is a plus.


 

This position is funded by a contract with the Office of Court Administration and is contingent upon the continuation of this funding.


 

Salary low 50’s per annum, commensurate with experience.
