In an upcoming webinar, Creighton University faculty member Bernie Mayer, Ph.D., will discuss the management and productive handling of such disputes, using techniques from his award-winning book Staying With Conflict: A Strategic Approach to Ongoing Disputes (Jossey-Bass/Wiley, 2009).

Conflicts that drag on can be frustrating to all parties—including the conflict resolution specialist. In an upcoming webinar, Creighton University faculty member Bernie Mayer, Ph.D., a recognized authority in the developing field of Alternative Dispute Resolution, will discuss the management and productive handling of such disputes.

During the webinar, “Dealing with Conflicts That Just Won’t Go Away (and Maybe Shouldn’t)”, Professor Mayer will expand on techniques and topics from his award-winning book Staying With Conflict: A Strategic Approach to Ongoing Disputes (Jossey-Bass/Wiley, 2009), including:

  •     The special nature and characteristics of enduring conflicts
  •     Six approaches to dealing with long-lasting disputes
  •     How to use power constructively

Mediators should always keep in mind that ongoing conflicts can be a beneficial challenge. “Our most difficult conflicts are those that won’t go away--but they are also ones that provide us with the greatest opportunity to make a difference in our personal and professional lives, our communities and our society,” says Mayer.
