Tony Bencivenga recently blogged, through her blog powered by edutopia.org, about the trials and tribulations of childhood playgrounds and the "grown-up" responses of administrators, teachers and parents to children when interactions on the playground may go awry.

Read about the peer mediator project which utilizes the peer-mediator/mentor model that Bencivenga implemented at an elementary project here: http://www.edutopia.org/recess-struggles

Bencivenga also describes the Stone Center of Wellesley College’s Open Circle Program.  From the blog:  Open Circle is a social and emotional learning program which gives the children an awareness of key concepts, terminology, and strategies in the area of conflict resolution.  Read more about the Open Circle Program here: http://www.open-circle.org/about_us/index.html
