JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of Hon. Carl J. West (Ret.) to its panel. Judge West will be based in the JAMS Los Angeles Resolution Center. He will serve as an arbitrator, mediator and special master in a variety of disputes including Antitrust, Business/Commercial, Class Action/Mass Tort, Construction Defect, Employment, Environmental, Insurance, Real Estate and Securities.
Judge West served for nearly 20 years on the Los Angeles Superior Court bench, with the last 10 years spent on the complex litigation panel. He held hundreds of settlement conferences for disputes that spanned the legal spectrum, often working closely with parties to bring them together and foster resolution of even the most complex and difficult cases.
“Judge West is well known for handling complex cases efficiently and effectively,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “Given his notable settlement background and reputation in Southern California, we’re thrilled to have him join our panel in Los Angeles.”
“I’m excited to continue utilizing the settlement and case management skills I developed while on the bench,” said Judge West. “JAMS is the best in the industry and I look forward to joining the panel of high quality neutrals and working alongside the superior case management team.”
Judge West graduated with his B.A. from Occidental College and earned his J.D. from Loyola Law School. He has lectured on a number of issues including complex case management, e-discovery and civil case procedure at the Sedona Conference, the ABA Litigation and Insurance section annual retreat and the State Bar of California’s Antitrust and Unfair Competition seminar.
