JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of Hon. Coleman A. Swart (Ret.) to its panel. “Judge Swart is known for his fair-mindedness and firm grasp on complex legal issues,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “His ability for swift and sure settlement will make him a tremendous addition to our panel in Los Angeles.”

“Joining JAMS allows me to stay active and engaged in the dispute resolution work that I enjoy so much,” said Judge Swart. “I look forward to joining the distinguished JAMS panel of neutrals.”

Judge Swart graduated with his B.A. from Occidental College and earned his J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law.

Judge Swart was the trial judge in the case that granted a qualified privilege to a university ombuds.  The appellate decision is a seminal case for organizational ombuds, especially in California. Garstang v. Superior Court (Calif. Inst. of Tech.) (1995) 39 Cal.App.4th 526 , 46 Cal.Rptr.2d 84.
