After several years of work and an extended national search, Connecticut's flagship public university has named Jim Wohl as the first University Ombuds. The new program at UConn (which was the only "Public Ivy" without an Ombuds office) was established with a Charter that follows IOA Standards of Practice. In an introductory letter to the UConn community, University President Susan Herbst said that Wohl will report directly to her.
Most recently, Wohl was the founding Ombuds at Auburn University. He served as University Ombudsperson at Louisiana State University and has been a workplace mediator in higher education and in the power industry. Wohl is an active member of IOA, a Certified Organizational Ombudsman Practitioner and holds a Certificate in Workplace Conflict Resolution from Cornell University. He also spent 17 years on the faculty at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. (UConn Ombuds Office.)
