Law360, New York (June 25, 2014, 4:38 PM ET) -- A program that funnels one in every five New York commercial cases into mandatory mediation has has been given the green light by a top state judge as businesses — and their in-house counsel — push for solutions that will speed dispute resolution and cut into litigation costs. 

The 18-month automatic referral pilot program, which applies to New York's Commercial Division, was brought into force by civil administrative Judge Sherry Klein Heitler in an order dated Monday and provided to Law360 on Wednesday. The program becomes effective July 28.
