July- Integrating Technology Into A Conflict Resolution Practice






Joinn us for July's Web Panel Discussion featuring Dan Rainey. Dan will talk about how to integrate technology (the internet, software, different websites, etc.) into one's dispute resolution practice. This includes mediators, facilitators, ombudsman and others.

Daniel Rainey is currently the Chief of Staff for the National Mediation Board (NMB), an independent U.S. Government agency responsible for labor-management dispute resolution in the airline and railroad industries. His work for the NMB includes development and use of information and communication technologies (ICT) for dispute resolution efforts involving contract negotiations, grievance mediation, arbitration, and ADR training.
 
For the past five years he has been one of the team members from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and the NMB working under grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to study the impact of technology on dispute resolution and the application of process modeling to the development of ODR software.
 
In addition to his work with the NMB and Creighton, he teaches in the graduate Dispute Resolution program at Southern Methodist University and he serves on the Board of Directors for the InternetBar.Org, a non-profit organization dedicated to issues of cyber-justice, rule of law, and dispute resolution internationally.If you are curious about the details of the work in which he is engaged, refer to his personal web site at http://sites.google.com/site/danielraineyorg

I attended this session. It was excellent. Daniel Rainey is an expert on the practicalities of ODR. I recommend you check out the archive of this session, especially if you're wrestling (like me) with using ODR as an adjunct to your face-to-face mediation. Thanks to Jeff & Bryan Hanson for organizing today's event.
