Merry Christmas!

Yes, the holidays are notorious for CREATING conflict (think family get-togethers, financial stress, and unrealistic expectations), but, this year, I thought it would be a good idea to focus on how the holidays can actually RESOLVE the past year’s conflicts.

1. Attitude Change: What better time of year than the holidays for an attitude change. Aunt Mildred causing family drama this year? Well, it may be worth your effort to focus on the GOOD qualities she may possess, too. Hey, who else can make a plum tart like her?imagesZ45DTJA7

2. Focus on the Less Fortunate: Nothing brings petty conflicts into perspective like focusing on those who are less fortunate. It’s difficult to hold a grudge about who hosts more holiday dinners when you realize there are those who don’t even have a holiday dinner to attend.

3. Forgive and Forget: It’s easier said than done, but the spirit of the season really is about forgiveness and family. If there’s a conflict hanging in the air, ask yourself if it’s worth the trouble. If it is, then, now’s the time to talk it out (you can even say the holidays inspired you). If the conflict isn’t worth the trouble, consider dropping it and moving on.

These are just a few things we can all do to enjoy a conflict-free holiday season (it doesn’t hurt to give great presents, either)!
