Let’s face it. Sometimes the easiest thing to do is to blame someone one else.

When the reality is that we should look to ourselves.

What do I mean by that?

For me it boils down to a very simple concept:

The most important state of mind in any situation is YOURS.

It doesn’t matter when or where it is – with family, in the workplace or a crowded airplane on a busy holiday weekend.

If your first thought in a tough situation is “things would be much better if he/she/everyone else would change/act differently,” then you know exactly what I am talking about.

Think about it. This means that you are totally relying on others. Yuck.

When you, in fact, have total control – through your own attitude.

Your state of mind is completely INdependent from every one else’s. Your inner world is your alone.

As a fellow mediator from the UK described it – are you more of a projector or a camera?

I just love that analogy.

Are you projecting what’s around you through what others are feeling?

Or are you taking photos to record it from your own perspective?

So, this may all seem pretty retro in this digital world … but it sure resonated for me.

And I hope it gives you something to pause and think about as well.
