U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeff Kaplan (Ret.) Joins JAMS

Dallas – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of Hon. Jeff Kaplan (Ret.) to its panel. Judge Kaplan will be based in the JAMS Dallas Resolution Center and is the 39th federal judge to join JAMS. The JAMS Federal Panel possesses an invaluable body of legal knowledge, experience and skill with a variety of Federal law matters. He will serve as an arbitrator, mediator and special master in a number of disputes including Appellate, Business/Commercial, Civil Rights, Class Action/Mass Torts, Employment, Insurance, Intellectual Property, Personal Injury/Torts and Professional Liability.

 

Judge Kaplan joins JAMS after serving for 20 years as a federal and state court judge. During his 18 years as a federal magistrate judge for the Northern District of Texas, Judge Kaplan presided over more than 60 jury trials and authored more than 2,100 opinions and recommendations in a variety of civil cases. Prior to his appointment to the federal bench, Judge Kaplan served as a state appellate judge, where he participated in more than 220 appeals and authored more than 80 opinions. As a civil trial lawyer, he represented clients on both sides of the docket.

Judge Kaplan graduated with his B.A., cum laude, from Vanderbilt University and received his J.D. from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. He is also board certified in both Civil Trial Law and Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
