Position Description

The interdisciplinary Conflict Studies Program invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position to begin in August 2012. Ph.D. preferred, ABD required in a field related to Peace and/or Conflict Studies. A commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts setting is essential. Teaching and research experience are preferred. Rank and salary are based on credentials and experience. A strong theoretical base and the capacity to teach resolution/transformation practice are essential. A focus on applied skills, theory, and conflict assessment methodology are preferred.

Teaching responsibilities will include the program’s introductory course, Advanced Conflict Analysis and Resolution, and other topics courses within the candidate’s specialization. Responsibilities for teaching the senior capstone are shared with affiliated faculty members. Areas of specialization to be considered include, but are not limited to: Conflict Analysis and Resolution/Transformation; Peacemaking and Peacebuilding; Theory and Practice of Restorative Justice; Peace and Conflict Studies Research methods (including Philosophy of Social Science); Identity conflict; and Peace Movements.

Contribution to Conflict Studies program development, including design and facilitation of faculty seminars/workshops/training sessions, and faculty/student reading groups or projects is required.
