A group of University City High School students has organized a week-long series of activities exploring and preventing school violence.

 

The students, members of a school “Peace Committee,” have developed a series of events that are open to parents and the community. Three community education forums to gather comment on violence and violence prevention begin this week.

 

...In April, all committee members will attend training on non-violent mediation offered by Building Life Foundations Nonviolence Center, and each student will be certified as a peer-mediation trainer.

By the next school year, committee students will be trained to become peer mediators at the high school and will help to grow the team with newly trained students each year.
