RESOLVE, a non-profit organization in Washington, DC is seeking a Health Policy Intern.

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:
RESOLVE is an independent organization focused on helping diverse groups solve environmental, social, and health problems. We work with leaders in communities, governments, businesses, non-profits, academia, and foundations to find solutions that make a difference for society. We are based in Washington DC and work on local, regional, national, and international projects. We assess situations for collaboration possibilities, design collaborative strategies and processes, facilitate dialogues, and mediate differences that lead to solutions. Our project areas include sustainable agriculture, product stewardship and certification, healthy ecosystems, energy, natural resources, climate change, public and environmental health.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Intern will work RESOLVE senior staff in all aspects of collaboration and consensus building including:
• background research on collaboration issues and partnership opportunities;
• background research for proposals and case summaries;
• writing case summaries of finished projects;
• scheduling stakeholder meetings and venues;
• communicating with stakeholders about meeting logistics;
• arranging AV needs for meetings;
• copying presentation materials and organizing materials for presentations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualified interns will be Masters or Ph.D. students who have completed at least one year of coursework focused on collaboration and public policy, and have some collaboration experience. For spring 2010, we are seeking interns who have an interest in and some experience on the following issues:
• health and justice impacts of global climate change;
• environmental health including hazardous substances, clean water, and indoor and outdoor air pollution;
• sustainable agriculture and food production;
• food quality and safety supply chains;
• food safety and nutrition;
• public health reform and infrastructure.

RESOLVE will work with the interns’ University to fill out any required forms and will evaluate the intern at the end of the semester. RESOLVE will also work with each student’s school to ensure that a student has fulfilled the required hours for the internship. Interns are paid a stipend of $1,500 per semester.
