P/T-The McNair Program Director -University ofCalifornia, Merced
The University of California, Merced is the newest and tenth campus of the University of California system and the first American research university built in the 21st century. Under the direction of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, the McNair Program Director is responsible for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of services for the current and incoming McNair Scholars.
The McNair Program Director will supervise administrative staff and McNair Graduate Assistants. The incumbent will monitor the appropriateness and consistency of all instructional and counseling activities involving participants, and develop and implement continual strategies for improvement.
Candidates should have excellent organizational skills to simultaneously manage and work on a wide variety of tasks, meet deadlines, maintain a high level of productivity, and coordinate activities of unit members. The Program Director must enforce the highest standards of tracking, assessment, and fulfillment of the Ronald McNair Scholars Program Objectives according to scheduled reports. The Program Director will Prepare Annual Progress and Performance Reports, ensuring accurate and complete data are maintained, compiled, and reports generated.
The McNair Program Director shall maintain active communication with the McNair Program Headquarters and participate in regional and national McNair meetings. In addition, the Program Director will design and oversee the marketing, recruitment, and selection processes for the McNair Program participants, as well as serve as Instructor or Instructor of Record of the 1-credit McNair Seminar at UC Merced. The Program Director will also collaborate with the PI, CGA, SPO, SPA and MSO manage the budget, serve as the Liaison with CSU Stanislaus to ensure access to the program at UC Merced for its most deserving students, and facilitate training of faculty and staff relevant to the McNair Program's objectives.
Additionally, the McNair Program Director shall ensure production and strategic distribution (online or print) of the UC Merced McNair Newsletter each semester. The incumbent will perform other duties as assigned, keeping with the expectations of the McNair Scholars Program national leadership.
This position is a 49% part-time Contract appointment.

Qualifications:
*Master's Degree required; Ph.D preferred.
*Requires the ability to implement, manage, and evaluate effective programming;
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
*Strong computer proficiency;
*Experience in a higher education setting with budget, data and personnel management;
*Experience with grant-writing and administration;
*Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of disadvantaged students;
*Demonstrated ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds;
*Strong communication and organizational skills;
*Ability to maintain flexible schedule, including evening and weekend work;
*Experience with research/scholarly activities and/or graduate admissions;
*Teaching experience preferred;
*TRIO alumnus or knowledge of TRIO programs;
*Bilingual in Spanish/English;
*Knowledge of McNair Projects.
