From an official IMI announcement,

We are pleased to announce that Ute Joas Quinn has joined the Board of Directors of IMI.  Ute is Associate General Counsel, Shell Upstream International (UI) Functions, and is based in The Netherlands.

Qualified as a U.S. attorney and trained as a mediator, Ute has a wide range of experience in conflict management, including (among other things) ADR and community grievance mechanisms.  In her current role, she leads global UI focal points advising on dispute resolution, compliance, social performance and external affairs legal issues.

Commenting on her appointment, Ute said:
"I am very pleased to represent Shell Upstream International business in its support of preventative measures, where appropriate, as an alternative to full blown judicial proceedings for resolving conflicts.  Given their transnational reach, Shell Upstream companies too often are confronted with competencies and experiences of varying degrees externally in the field of mediation which currently inhibits regular use of this tool in conflict situations.

We are therefore pleased to be able to contribute to and support IMI's foresight and efforts to establish mediation as a credible, qualitative, cost-effective, and above all practical profession to assist fellow users in the facilitation of their conflicts."
Please join us in welcoming Ute to the IMI Board.

With best wishes and warm regards,
Irena Vanenkova and the IMI Team
