This webinar considers a wide variety of ethical issues facing those who mediate online.  First, the webinar will consider how the online practice fits within current ethical guidelines.  Next, panelists will consider whether the online forum should be governed by a different set of rules, specific to the technology.  Finally, the panelists will consider emerging issues in online ethics, such as ownership and aggregation of data by hosting sites.

Presenter Bios:

Kristen M. Blankley is an Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska College of Law, where she teaches on a wide variety of alternative dispute resolution and ethics topics, including negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and professional responsibility.  Professor Blankley also an active scholar in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution, publishing on arbitration, mediation, and ethics in alternative dispute resolution issues.  She has written on topics including class action arbitrations, judicial review of arbitration awards, Federal Arbitration Act preemption, mediation ethics, and mediation confidentiality.  She is active in the mediation community both locally and nationally.

Susan Nauss Exon is Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Professor of Law at the University of La Verne College of Law in Ontario, California. She teaches Mediation, Mediation Ethics Seminar, Negotiation, Civil Procedure and related courses. She has written extensively in the area of mediation, focusing primarily on mediation ethics and building trust in an online environment. Susan is the author of Advanced Guide for Mediators, published by LexisNexis in 2014. She has mediated a wide variety of disputes for over 15 years.
