Live Webinar: Information Activism and ODR - Tuesday, October 30th @ 7pm Eastern/6pm Central/11pm GMT

Information Activism and Online Dispute Resolution: Partners or Strange Bedfellows?

Presented by Bill Warters

Information Activism and Online Dispute Resolution: Partners or Str... from The Werner Institute on Vimeo.

In this webinar we will peer into the exciting world of Information Activism and the use of networked communication tools to promote and defend human rights. We'll use the work of the Tactical Technology Collective as our jumping off point. We'll also tap into some conflict theory and consider the different roles that parties commonly play in social conflicts. With help from webinar participants, we'll try to articulate the kind of relationship we'd like to see between ODR (which most often seeks to resolve or cool down conflicts) and Info-activism (which often seeks to energize or heat things up). Students are especially encouraged to join us as we seek to apply and adapt conflict theory to current contexts.

Thanks for the interesting talk tonight Bill.  I took a bunch of notes and am passing along the information to colleagues and students.

Also you and your students might be interested in a book I am editing on the digital revolution. I think info-activism fits nicely with the book and would invite you to submit a chapter proposal.  Here are the details on the book and the proposals.

Great to have the Info-Activism movies embedded here. Thanks Bryan!

Great information!  I shared this information with students in my international negotiation course today and sent it to a colleague in communications.

Thanks again for an interesting talk and opening up a new field to me.
